Our Ambassador program was created to teach and encourage the next generation to serve and better their community. We all know Chris Jones, whom we lost December 2020, exemplified what it means to be a community leader and servant. He was an ambassador for his community, which is why this scholarship is named after him in his memory.
Steel Grace and Ramage Funeral Directors have sponsored this $500 scholarship with the intention of fostering a future community leader. We asked our Ambassadors to write about what community service project meant the most to them, and among those, one was chosen.
Javan Bueno has won the Chris Jones Memorial Scholarship this year. We wish him well as he continues to be an ambassador for Olton wherever life takes him!
● Must be a senior OCCA Ambassador
● Complete the required 10 community service hours at OCCA events
● Have community service hours outside of OCCA events
● Two recommendation letters
● Handwritten essay over the topic, "Why is it important to serve your community and what community service project meant the most to you?"
Congratulations and thank you to our senior Ambassadors! You all have helped the Olton Chamber so much these past couple of years with many of our events ranging from Sandhills to Hometown Christmas to our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We cold not have done it without you! We hope you carry the same spirit of service with you into this next chapter in your lives!
